Transportation

The Goshen/Cornwall Senior Bus and Geer Dial-a-Ride provide rides for Cornwall residents to medical appointments, local shopping, errands, and other transportation needs. To schedule a ride, please call Geer Dial-a-Ride at (860) 824-7067

Call the Northwest Connecticut Transit District for rides to medical appointments at (860) 489-2535. The van is wheelchair accessible.

FISH in Cornwall is a group of volunteers who provide rides to anyone living in Cornwall needing transportation. These volunteers drive their own cars and there is no charge. Please call a few days in advance to reserve your spot: Ivana Powers at (860) 672-4817 or send an email to ipowers@geercares.org

Food & Supplies

As of Mar 15, 2020, the Pantry is closed to all patrons in response to the social distancing protocol recommended by the CDC. Learn more on the CDC website. You can order online in the Food and Supplies section below.

The Cornwall Food Pantry provides non-perishable food, household and personal care supplies to people who need them. No application is necessary.

We are working diligently to obtain grocery items that you may need to make it through the next few weeks, and have designed a way to make it easier for your preferred items. Please fill out this form on this page, and you can share this direct link with others.

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT ON LOAN

The United Church of Christ on Bolton Hill Road is the repository of all sorts of medical equipment – beds, commodes, walkers, canes, crutches, etc.

WOMEN'S SUPPORT SERVICES

Confidential help, particularly for victims of domestic violence, but also for women with other difficult issues. For example, a program which provides secondhand cars for those in need.

NORTHWEST CORNER CHORE SERVICE (NCCS)

helps people with housekeeping, errands, gardening, snow shoveling, odd jobs – any job that’s legal, safe, and mutually agreed upon. Although its target population is older and disabled people, anyone can use the service. Clients are asked for a contribution on a sliding scale. Regardless of the amount of client contribution, workers are paid $12.00 per hour and mileage is reimbursed at .50 per mile beginning July 1st, 2017 (up from .40).Mileage is paid for mileage over 10 miles one way or 20 miles round trip for travel to and from a client.

GEER DIAL-A-RIDE

Service provides door-to-door transportation for residents of North Canaan, Falls Village, Salisbury, Cornwall and Sharon. Monday through Saturday.Transportation is provided for non-emergency medical appointments, shopping and day-to-day errands. The vehicle is handicap accessible. There is no charge for this service. THE NORTHWEST CORNER TRANSIT DISTRICT

Provides Curb-To-Curb Transportation service in the 16 towns throughout Northwest Connecticut. A 24 hour advance is requested to reserve your ride.Transportation is provided for nutrition programs, medical, shopping and for any other social and personal purposes.All vehicles are wheelchair accessible and our slogan is “We Will Get You There”.
