Saturday & Sunday, November 5 and 6, 2 to 4 pm
$30 per participant
The Cornwall Library is pleased to present Grumbling Gryphons Traveling Children’s Theater in a sign language/drama workshop incorporating music, movement, Greek mythology and American Sign Language for children ages 6 & up. Adults are also invited to participate and join in the learning and fun!
Actress and director Leslie Elias will be joined by Daniel Saed and Micah Conway, both veteran Gryphon actors and drama assistants. They will lead a two-part drama workshop where children will learn to sign their dramatic parts as the Greek Chorus in the opening scene of The Myth of Persephone: How The Seasons Came to Be presented in both English and ASL.
On Sunday afternoon at 3:30 the drama group will perform for parents and the public as the Greek Chorus! Masks and costumes are made by Ellen Moon and Robert Flannagan. Live musical accompaniment will be provided by trombonist and keyboardist Brian Bender.
This program was made possible by the Connecticut Office on the Arts and DECD (Department of Economic and Community Development) through an Artist Respond Grant which teaching artist Leslie Elias received to travel throughout the state providing this special drama workshop to various communities and populations.
Fee for participants: $30 for both sessions. The performance is free.
