

The Ghost Net: An Environmental Musical of The Sea – CCS
On Tuesday, June 3rd at 1:30 pm all K-8 Students at Cornwall Consolidated School will take part and perform with Grumbling Gryphons Traveling Children’s Theater in their original theatrical production of The Ghost Net: An Environmental Musical of The Sea for the entire student body and their families.The students will work with Grumbling Gryphons actors on Tuesday morning in pre-performance workshops in theater, music to become an integral part of the afternoon performance and to learn about marine environmental concerns and the importance of protecting all ocean life. On Monday afternoon (afterschool) on June 2nd, students will have the opportunity to make masks & puppets with artist and actress Natalie Resto in the art room, as well as learn additional dramatic roles for the production with director Leslie Elias and her troupe in the gym.
This show was brought to the school by Principal Leanne Macguire to dovetail and complement this year’s theme of “Under The Sea”. In the fall of 2024 students learned about marine rescue of stranded sea animals and performed “The Little Mermaid “ for the spring musical in March of 2025. This production which is dedicated to protecting marine life will be a great finish to the school year! Masks, costumes and scenery are made by Ellen Moon of Cornwall Bridge and the play is directed and written by Leslie Elias. 4 actors play 30 roles between them and only three are human. Live music is provided by Brian Bender, keyboardist & trombonist from Massachusetts. Daniel Saed a CCS graduate now majoring in music and theater at college plays a lead role of Sea Magic- the Dolphin Parents & families are welcome.
