Janice Nimura will join her former high school teacher Franny Taliaferro in conversation about Nimura’s recently published The Doctors Blackwell: How Two Pioneering Sisters Brought Medicine to Women and Women to Medicine. Nimura is the author of the NY Times Notable Book Daughters of the Samurai.  Now she tells the history of Elizabeth and Emily Blackwell, who were the first and third women in the U.S. to earn the M.D. degree, and who founded the first hospital in the U.S. staffed entirely by women.
