Carbon Monoxide Warning/Caution

Hello!
Sharing on behalf of the First Selectmen’s Office and the CVFD Fire Chief, Will Russ:
Quick little reminders to keep you and your family safe this season:
  • Check the laundry & exhaust vents on the exterior your home and clear snow away from the area to prevent a CO backup into your home
  • It is always recommended to have your chimney & furnaces cleaned out twice a year – not just at the beginning of the season, its good practice to have it cleaned halfway through the season
  • Check those batteries in your CO detector – make sure they work
One other (non-CO related) reminder: If you are cleaning out the ashes from your wood stove or fireplace, please do not put the ashes in a paper bag and do not put the ashes on the porch – this could cause a fire.
Lastly, if you have a fire hydrant on your property please be a friend to the CVFD and shovel that out.
Thank you so much,
Jane Hall
