About Us
Starting From Seed
Like many others during this difficult year, Charlotte Van Doren found solace in being outdoors and tending her garden. “Cornwall is full of passionate gardeners, many of whom are ‘artists on their land’—but something is missing,” mused Charlotte. She realized that Cornwall gardeners had no means of connecting socially among one another. Charlotte’s tentative email asking who would be interested in a garden club produced “an explosive response,” so she set out to create a modern version of a garden club.
When asked what most excites her about the garden club, Susie Ott responded that she “loves the fact that it’s open to beginners as well as professionals, making it a way for people to learn from one another.” Susie has joined Charlotte in spearheading the “Gardener’s Sowing Circle” to offer small group gatherings at neighbors’ gardens, hoping to create a more intimate sphere in which to meet fellow garden enthusiasts and exchange garden wisdom. Dee Saloman will offer the first such tour with a woodland wildflower walk. Anyone interested in more information can contact cornwallgardenclub1@gmail.com.
