Town of Cornwall Launches New Official Government Website at CornwallCT.gov

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 1, 2026

Modernized digital platform improves access to municipal services, strengthens transparency, and creates a dedicated online home for town government.

CORNWALL, CT — The Town of Cornwall is pleased to announce the launch of its new official municipal website, www.cornwallct.gov, marking an important step forward in modernizing how residents, businesses, and visitors access town government information and services.

The new website provides a centralized, user-friendly resource for municipal operations, making it easier for residents to stay informed, connect with town departments, access public records, and participate in local government.

Developed using the CivicPlus municipal website platform, CornwallCT.gov features improved navigation, mobile-friendly access, and tools designed to make interacting with town government more convenient and transparent.

Making Town Government More Accessible

The redesigned website offers a range of features intended to enhance communication, public engagement, and access to essential services, including:

  • Agendas and Meeting Minutes: Convenient access to meeting schedules, agendas, and public records from town boards and commissions.
  • Town News and Announcements: A centralized source for official municipal announcements, legal notices, and important community information.
  • Email and Text Notifications: Residents can subscribe to updates about municipal meetings, announcements, and other town activities.
  • Online Forms and Requests: Digital tools for submitting requests, accessing forms, and reporting concerns.
  • Municipal Calendars: Easy access to upcoming government meetings, public hearings, and community events.
  • Town Directory: Streamlined access to municipal departments, officials, and contact information.

A Trusted Digital Home for Cornwall Government

The transition to a .gov domain also reflects a broader statewide initiative to establish consistent, recognizable, and trusted online identities for municipal governments.

Under Connecticut law, municipalities are required to maintain official websites using the .gov domain by July 1, 2027. Cornwall’s transition positions the town ahead of that deadline.

Unlike commercially available domains, .gov addresses are restricted to verified U.S. government organizations, helping residents more readily identify authentic government information.

CornwallCT.org Continues as a Community Resource

The launch also represents an evolution in Cornwall’s digital presence.

Since 2001, CornwallCT.org has served as a unique community-driven website, bringing together municipal information, local news, events, and visitor resources in one place.

With official government information moving to CornwallCT.gov, the existing CornwallCT.org website will continue to evolve as a dedicated community and visitor resource, highlighting Cornwall’s cultural offerings, local organizations, businesses, events, natural beauty, and distinctive small-town character.

Together, the two websites will serve complementary purposes: CornwallCT.gov as the authoritative source for municipal government information, and CornwallCT.org as a resource for discovering and connecting with the Cornwall community.

Residents Encouraged to Explore the New Website

Residents are encouraged to visit the new website, familiarize themselves with its features, bookmark the official address, and subscribe to municipal notifications.

The website will continue to evolve as town departments expand resources and improve digital services based on community needs.
