SUMMARY:Children's Book Signing - The Wish House
DESCRIPTION:Meet children’s book author Caroline Nastro and her new book ” Fly\, Little Bird\, Fly !” at the Wish House in West Cornwall. \nFollowing is an insight into the book and the author : \nA few years ago\, I became very interested in birds. I started learning about how amazing these little creatures are. Here are a few fun facts: \n# Birds can identify the constellations in the night sky and find the North Star. \n# Birds see more colors of the light spectrum than we do. \n# The flight feathers of birds have little hooks that hook and unhook during flight to be more aerodynamic. \n# And some little birds take longer to learn how to fly than others. Their parents try different ways of encouraging these reluctant birds to fly\, such as by tempting them with delicious caterpillar treats. \nWhen I learned about these reluctant fledglings\, it reminded me of when I was little and went to nursery school for the very first time. I hid in my cubby and wouldn’t come out. One day my teacher brought me hot chocolate and it smelled so good that I crawled out of my cubby for a sip. And so a story was born about a little bird who refuses to learn how to fly\, like a little child who is afraid to try something new. When Little Birdlands by accident in a big city\, he discovers that the world is more amazing than he ever imagined\, and he finds the courage to soar. I collaborated on this book with a wonderful illustrator from Romania named Anca Sandu and the amazing publishing team at Clavis Books\, a Belgian children’s book publisher. \nCaroline Nastro is a children’s book author. Her first book\, “The Bear Who Couldn’t Sleep” (North South Books) was translated into German\, Chinese and Spanish and was chosen as a 2019 Bank Street Best Picture Book of the Year in Spanish. “Fly\, Little Bird\, Fly!” has been translated into Dutch and BahasaIndonesian. Caroline is currently collaborating with illustrator Anca Sandu on two upcoming picture books: Outside Amelia’s Window (Two Lions\, 2022) and The Peace Rose (Peachtree\, 2022). She attended the Sorbonne University in Paris\, France and has a master’s degree in theater from Stanford University.

SUMMARY:Book Celebration - West Cornwall Farm Market
DESCRIPTION:At the Farm Market in West Cornwall please join us for the book celebration of The Memory of All That\, a love story about Alzheimer’s by Mary MacCracken presented by Linda MacCracken.\n \n\nThe Memory of All That\, the last book by international bestselling author\, Mary MacCracken\, has just arrived!  In this poignant memoir\, which Kirkus Reviews calls “[a] moving and frank remembrance of love and loss\,” Mary tells the story of her long marriage to her brilliant husband\, Cal—and of losing him to Alzheimer’s. \nOver the first decades of their marriage\, Mary and Cal help each other each achieve success in their work. Cal\, having come up with one new idea after another\, is called one of America’s most prolific inventors.  Mary\, losing her job teaching autistic children\, returns to college and then sets up her own practice.  Her first book is published and sells widely\, followed by three more.  Love\, for each other\, their work\, and their families\, fills their lives.   \nBut then Cal’s keen mind begins to fail him. He forgets things\, people he should know\, even the way home. Faced with his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s\, the two draw on the same determination and belief in each other that marked their earlier years.  Always a fighter\, Cal announces they’ll defeat Alzheimer’s and write a book about it. Mary finds ways to maintain their loving relationship despite the disease. Realizing she can’t deal with his disease alone\, she also seeks advice and support from good friends\, doctors\, and social workers.  Though Cal worsens\, he and Mary still enjoy sweet moments; they stay close and loving until the end. \nThe Memory of All That provides a valuable understanding of Alzheimer’s for caregivers\, their families\, and friends\, showing them the disease is not shameful or terrifying\, but manageable. A deftly told account of how love can persist and console despite life’s ordeals\, it will also appeal to anyone simply seeking a good story. \nCal and Mary spent summers and most weekends (even in winter) in West Cornwall\, CT.  Mary wrote her four earlier books about her work with autistic and learning-disabled children: Circle of Children\, Lovey\, City Kid\, and Turn-About Children there. Her books have been published in fourteen countries and the first two were made into movies for television\, starring the actress Jane Alexander. Her books have recently been republished (the first and last under new titles\, The Lost Children and A Safe Place for Joey) and still attract a wide readership.  She died shortly before finishing this last memoir\, which her daughter Susan Thistle has seen through publication. \nFor more information visit https://marymaccracken.com

SUMMARY:Book Signing with Gregory Galloway
DESCRIPTION:Book Signing with Gregory Galloway and his thriller Just Thieves \nAbout the Author :\nGregory Galloway is the author of the novels The 39 Deaths of Adam Strand and the Alex Award-winning As Simple As Snow. His work has appeared in the Rush Hour and Taking Aim anthologies\, as well as the Cornwall Chronicle. Greg is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He currently resides in Cornwall\, CT.\n \nAbout the book :\nCareer thief Rick\, the narrator of this stellar noir from Galloway (The 39 Deaths of Adam Strand) set in an unnamed part of the U.S.\, learned dishonesty from his father\, a crooked building inspector. After Rick’s girlfriend\, Denise\, gives birth to their daughter\, the couple split\, but Rick becomes concerned about the new man in Denise’s life\, a drug addict. Rick seeks help getting the drug addict out of the picture from Froehmer\, a friend of his dad’s\, who agrees to take care of the problem. In exchange\, Rick steals tools and equipment on demand from construction sites. Rick’s proficiency at boosting stuff leads to another request from Froehmer—to burglarize a home to steal a box. That successful assignment leads to other burglaries and to Rick’s eventual acquisition of a partner\, Frank\, who has the tech skills to evade alarms and surveillance. The partnership results in murder and the tightening of the screws around Rick. Galloway is as good at characterizations as he is at tight\, and surprising\, plotting. Michael Kardos fans will be eager for more from Galloway.\n \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51Pgo42XKfU
