DESCRIPTION:Mark McEachern\, Executive Director of the Torrington Historical Society\, will present a powerpoint presentation about the history of Torrington on October 10th at 4pm. The origins of the towns of Cornwall and Torrington will be compared and contrasted prior to delving into Torrington‘s development as a small city. The program will focus on the rise of an industrial and business economy which attracted wave after wave of immigrant job seekers from the 1830s to the present. Major industries and immigration will be discussed in detail.
